Balaam’s Music is a privately owned business, established in 1957, specialising in the supply of Musical Instruments and Music in print and Other Media.
Based in the geographical centre of East Anglia, we are also within a mile of the largest warehouse of printed music in Europe The business has strong links with Schools and local authorities in the area, and much of the business revolves around music in education from pre-school playgroup to A-level standards.
Stringed instruments have always featured prominently in the Balaam’s Music inventory, particularly as John Balaam, the proprietor, was trained as a violinist.
There is always a wide range of student instruments available, and particular care and attention is devoted to the setting up of these relatively modest instruments.
We want every instrument to give as much pleasure to the player and to the listener as it is capable of giving - that will help to secure our market for the next generation.
A workshop on the premises deals with repairs and setting up of stringed instruments, as well as brass & woodwind.
The Rental Scheme for children learning to play means that there is always a regular stream of instruments being checked over before going out, and inevitably the odd one coming back after a minor - or major mishap.
